The mission of BOAR is to improve the gathering, managing, transforming and sharing of biomedical data. Biomedical Data is data created to better understand health, disease, and their biological foundations. Biomedical Ontologies are integral in integrating and interpreting the biomedical data.
Our aim is to facilitate the usage of clinical and biomedical data to improve healthcare for the individual patient and the entire population. To achieve this we focus on transforming data into actionable information or knowledge. The subjects of our work span from the smallest units of life over the individual patient to whole populations and global healthcare.
Dr. Mathias Brochhausen, the lead of BOAR, joined UAMS in 2011, coming from the Institute of Formal Ontologies and Biomedical Informatics Science (IFOMIS), Saarbrücken, Germany. Dr. Brochhausen’s expertise lies in developing biomedical ontologies and their implementation.
